Ah yes. Cherry blossoms and signs of spring. This instinctively gets me thinking about....taxes. Lucky for me, as an expat I get to worry about three sets of papers: income statements for Sweden, income statements for the US, and 'FBAR', or a detailed record to US authorities on all my accounts and the amounts in them. It's nice to know so many people care so much about me.
I've chosen to live abroad, so I've earned this fate. I can't complain (much). My poor girls though. They are American citizens as well. This means when they become adults they will also get the privilege to have to file records to the IRS, even if they never live a day in the States.
Let's not tell them this for a while.
