I was biking home from work a few days ago. A guy got out of a taxi with some luggage and walked right across the bike path to his hotel, cutting me off. Crazy tourist, I thought. Probably an American. They don't even think about bike paths.
I remember when I used to be American. When I didn't know that bike paths in Stockholm's city center are sacred. It took me a while to learn this after moving here. I used to wander aimlessly into bike paths. Even walk down them at times.
I did actually slow. I might have even given a friendly smile. I'm less American than I was, but nobody's perfect.
