The paternity leave myth

It irks me that people think paternity leave is full of relaxing moments. Some people think there are times I can just put a blanket down on the grass for the baby and relax. It's nothing like that.

I'm bothered when people think there's time to kick back, have a coffee and read the papers. Don't they know the rigors of childcare?

Some suspect I have time to watch baseball while I'm home with the baby. Ludicrous.

Or that I can just gaze out the window at my local cafe and daydream while the baby peacefully plays. Never happens.

There are even people who think I sleep during the day.

These people just don't know how it is, and there's no proof I have relaxing moments on paternity leave. It's 24/7.
