I had dinner with a group of friends last night. It was a mix of people from different countries. We are a talkative bunch, and we covered a lot of topics, like Corbyn in Britain and Berlusconi in Italy. But we kept coming back to stories in the US, like Kim Davis, the arrest of a 14-year-old for making a clock, and of course The Donald.
No one ever thanks me for this. Time and again, it's my country that feeds dinner-party conversation with oodles of ridiculous scandals and embarrassing politicians. You would think people could show a little gratitude.
