The girls and I visited a refugee housing area today. This one's at a campground. One of the many temporary solutions popping up around Sweden to deal with the immigration surge. You read a lot about the perils of migration. But I chatted with two people living here, and both said they're getting what they need.
Both had arrived to Sweden about a month ago. One from Syria, the other from Iraq. They each had families. As we chatted, I noticed that each wore only sandals, no socks. But they said they were getting food, clothing, housing, health care, and spending money, and had toys and bikes for the kids. Some of the children had already started school. The adults were studying Swedish at a nearby Red Cross.
You know about the hardship for migrants. I was glad this morning to know that at least these two families were doing OK.
